About the Studio & Who we Art...
Rick Broome Studios, now Broome Studios, is first and foremost a Family Business. The roots of the business go back to the 1940's where Rick's father, George Broome, was the owner of Broome Bros., a photography business, in Pueblo, CO. Although the business is not the same, the value of family owning and running the business has not changed. Rick was the Sole Proprietor of the Business from 1971 to 1997. Over the years, other family members were a part of the vision but it was namely comprised of Rick and his wife Billie.
In 1997, Rick's son, James, came on board temporarily to help take the business into the digital world, launching the business online and developing a website & e-commerce site that allowed customers from around the world to finally be able to learn more about Rick and his artwork. James soon graduated from College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management, with a focus on e-business. With the boom of the internet hitting a low in the early 2000's, James decided to come on full time in 2002 as a managing partner. In 2004, things got even more interesting when the technology took fine art publishing into a new era. The development of Digital Printing, or Giclee Publishing, became the new frontier for creating fine art. James took on a new role as the publishing and art director while maintaining the same role as a managing partner. This allowed Rick to focus solely on the Art while James managed the day to day operations and diligently worked to create the best artwork available on the market.
Over the past 24 years, this two-man crew hasn't changed much. Today, James is now more heavily involved with the creation of the Artwork while Rick focuses on painting and growing the collector base.
What we do here at Broome Studios is totally unique. We do not have a staff or rely on help from many people. We have some volunteer help, and we outsource some of what we do. For the most part though, when you purchase a piece of art from Broome Studios, you are getting something that is 100% Custom. We control everything from the creation of new artwork to the publishing of the art, to the finishing of the art. Because of the level of customization, creating a new piece of artwork takes time and one thing is true. You can't rush Art! When you become a collector, your order will be handled by two people throughout the process. Rick does the Original work and James handles everything else...We look forward to adding you as a collector and although it takes time, it is time that we enjoy because what you get is something we both love to do...
